Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE Rear M/C 160/60 ZR17 (69W)
Description
The sporty side of touring
The ROADTEC™ 01 SE is METZELER’s evolution in the sport touring segment that enhances handling and grip for supersport and naked motorcycles while improving mileage and performance in the wet
Grip on every surface, increased grip in full lean
Based on the award-winning ROADTECTM 01, the tread pattern on the ROADTEC™ 01 SE features a higher void ratio on the shoulders of both front and rear tyre, giving them a sportier nature and a more powerful appearance for tourer riders who lean more towards the sport side. With a void ratio of 18%, the middle section of the ROADTEC™ 01 SE tread matches the tread ratio of its predecessor and thus benefits from the advanced water drainage technologies that were developed for the ROADTEC™ 01. Unlike the ROADTEC™ 01 which features a tread void ratio ranging from 16% to 6%, the void ratio on the ROADTEC™ 01 SE tread decreases by 10% in the transition to the shoulders from a lean angle of 25 degrees and even becomes slick on the outermost shoulder. Thanks to this feature, the ROADTEC™ 01 SE provides a greater contact area at high lean angles, imparting more confidence and directional stability on bends.Mileage and consistent performance
The ROADTEC™ 01 SE preserves the excellent mileage of the ROADTEC™ 01. The front wheel has a large number of tread grooves that guarantee mechanical grip, water drainage and a strong feeling of safety. Due to the large contact patch, the point load is reduced, which contributes to less heat generation, less wear and increased mileage.Safety on wet and smooth surfaces
The ROADTEC™ 01 SE inherited its tread design from the multi award-winning ROADTEC ™ 01, but benefits from huge improvements when it comes to grip at full lean. The front tyre features a large number of transverse grooves that provide mechanical grip and ensure water drainage in very wet conditions. The rear tyre combines both long and short tread grooves to fulfil complementary functions: The former improve traction on low-adhesion surfaces while the latter prevent side slip and improve directional stability.Properties of the front tyre
Transverse grooves:- Provide mechanical grip
- Ensure water drainage
- Support optimal functioning of the ABS
Lower void ratio in the tyre shoulder area:
- Greater contact area in full lean
- Improved directional stability
- More grip and improved corner feel
Compounds:
- Full silica compound for excellent chemical grip in all conditions
- Homogeneous, wear-resistant compound for increased mileage
Properties of the rear tyre
Sabre-shaped tread grooves:- Increased mechanical grip
- Efficient water drainage
Drop-shaped tread grooves:
- More traction on smooth road surfaces
- Improved stability and control when braking
- Tyre warms up fast
Compounds:
- Bi-compound with 40-20-40 layout. The middle section of the tread, made of a silica and carbon black compound, offers high-speed stability and improved heat dissipation.
- The full-silica compound on the shoulders of the tyre guarantee excellent chemical grip on wet and smooth surfaces and fast warm-up. The front tyre and the shoulders on the rear tyre are made of the same compound to give a consistent feeling of contact on leans.
Properties of the front and rear tyre
New treadless tyre shoulder:- Optimised for even more sportiness
- More grip and greater confidence on full leans
