Description
Confident braking and handling in all winter conditions.
Excellent cornering grip on snow
Reliable winter braking
Top wet weather handling
Low rolling resistance
The Winter Response 2 features a tread pattern with 45 degree shoulder sipes for better traction when cornering on snow and ice.
The innovative "Reverse Snowguide" block pattern captures snow in the centreline of the tyre tread for increased contact area, meaning more grip when braking and accelerating.
High-density sipes mean more biting edges for improved wet weather braking and handling, as well as better traction on snow and ice.
Optimised shape carcass construction means less deformation in comparison to a standard tyre, for improved rolling resistance and better fuel economy.

EU Tyre Label
The Tyre Labelling Regulation determines the information that must be provided with regard to tyres' fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise. Information is also provided on the product's performance in wintery driving conditions.
Regulation EU 1222/2009, which has been in force since 01/11/2012, has been revised and will be replaced from 1 May 2021 by Regulation EU 2020/740, from which point new standards will apply. The assessment categories for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external noise have been changed and the layout of the EU label has been changed accordingly. The manufacturers' product data sheets, stored in the EU database, can be downloaded via a QR code integrated into the label. It also includes information on snow grip and ice grip for tyres that meet these criteria.
The following tyres are exempt from the regulation:
- Tyres designed to be fitted only to vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990
- Remoulded tyres (until Regulation EU 2020/740 has been widened accordingly)
- Professional off-road tyres
- Racing tyres
- Tyres with additional devices to improve traction, e.g. studded tyres
- Temporary-use spare tyres (T-type tyres)
- Tyres with a speed rating below 80 km/h
- Tyres with a nominal rim diameter of 254 mm or less and 635 mm or more
Overview of criteria and valuation classes
Test results
Summary:
In the current test, the DUNLOP Winter Response 2 isn't able to match its result from the previous year (195/65 R15). On the dry it fails to demonstrate the usual/expected performance, and on account of its merely average drive properties, it only manages an "adequate" rating in the overall scores. Although the Dunlop does impress in other criteria, for instance with its performance on the wet, in the snow, and even in the wear test,it can still only be "recommended under certain conditions" on account of its dry properties.
Strengths:
Good on wet roads, ice, and snow (top score), low fuel consumption
Weaknesses:
Significant weaknesses on dry roads (downgrade)
(Source: ADAC Test 2022: Winter tyres 185/65 R15)
(14 tested products, 4x good, 7x satisfactory, 3x adequate)
*according to German school grading system
Strengths:
Top mark on snow and regarding fuel consumption. Also good on wet road. Good also on dry road.
