MICHELIN Agilis X-ICE North Safety and mobility The MICHELIN Agilis X-ICE North offers safety and mobility thanks to short braking distances and outstanding driving characteristics on wintery roads. Studs have been banned in Germany since 1975. Studs are only permitted within a 15 kilometre wide strip along the Austrian border and in the tip of the land south of the Lofer – Bad Reichenhall line. In this part of the Alps, there is an increased likelihood of roads covered with snow and ice.

In Austria, studded tires are permitted on vehicles with max. 3.5 t total weight (axle load up to 1.8 t) from the beginning of October to the end of May. All four wheels must be equipped with studs, and an official stud sticker must be attached to the rear of the vehicle. The studs may protrude a maximum of 2 mm above the running surface. The maximum permissible speed outside urban areas is 80 km/h, on motorways 100 km/h.

In Switzerland, studs can be used from at least November to April, and longer depending on the weather. The maximum permissible speed outside urban areas is 80 km/h. A corresponding sticker on the vehicle is required. The studs may protrude a maximum of 1.5 mm above the running surface. studs are not allowed on motorways. Exceptions to this are the San Bernadino Tunnel and the St.-Gotthard Tunnel.

In France, studs are permitted from 11 November until the last Sunday in March. Vehicles registered in France require a corresponding "90 km/h" sticker. The maximum speed allowed with studded tires is 90 km/h on all roads.

In Italy, studded tires can be used from 15 November to 15 March. The vehicle can have a max. 3.5 tons total weight. The studs must be mounted on all 4 wheels (and also trailers). A maximum speed of 120 km/h on motorways and 90 km/h on other roads is permitted.

In Denmark, the use of studs is permitted in from 1 November to 15 April. There is no separate speed limit. Studded tires must be mounted on all 4 wheels.

In Norway, studded tires are allowed from November until the first Sunday after Easter. If the road conditions require it, use is permitted beyond this period. Special regulations also apply in northern districts.

In Finland, studs must be mounted on all four wheels. These are allowed from November to the first Monday after Easter. Depending on the weather, the period of approval may be extended. The maximum permissible speed is 100 km/h. These regulations also apply to cars registered abroad.
