The Potenza Race in everyday testing!
The Potenza Race is the latest addition to Bridgestone's proven Potenza line-up - born out of the company's long history in Formula 1. Based on this experience and the know-how gained in the development of the Potenza Race for the original equipment of, for example, the Lamborghini Huracán STO and the SEAT Leon Cupra, the Potenza Race is Bridgestone's first aftermarket tyre designed specifically for the race track.
The new semi-slick tyre sets new standards with its lap times* and offers the best braking performance in dry conditions*. Approved for public road use, but geared for track performance, it has excellent durability* and allows drivers to stay on the track for longer.
The Bridgestone Potenza Race's advanced performance is made possible by a range of new technologies in the tread pattern, construction and rubber compound.
Performance ready for new benchmarks
The Bridgestone Potenza Race semi-slick offers unmatched performance for track enthusiasts. The high performance is achieved through the development and use of new technologies:
The asymmetric tread design clearly differentiates between the outside and inside of the tyre. This maximises cornering performance and braking potential while achieving convincing wet road performance. The asymmetric tread grooves of Potenza Race increase lateral grip and reduce block deformation. In addition, a special rear tread pattern with a reinforced shoulder block ensures maximum dry performance with optimised braking and block stiffness.
For superior track performance, Bridgestone Potenza Race also features a sporty tread contour that increases contact patch and maximises braking potential. The optimised tread also improves the steering feel. In addition, the semi-slick benefits from an innovative rubber compound that increases control and optimises tyre stiffness and rolling resistance. The result is improved dry road performance with high stiffness that promotes cornering and directional stability on the track.
Manufacturer information
EU Tyre Label
The Tyre Labelling Regulation determines the information that must be provided with regard to tyres' fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise. Information is also provided on the product's performance in wintery driving conditions.
Regulation EU 1222/2009, which has been in force since 01/11/2012, has been revised and will be replaced from 1 May 2021 by Regulation EU 2020/740, from which point new standards will apply. The assessment categories for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external noise have been changed and the layout of the EU label has been changed accordingly. The manufacturers' product data sheets, stored in the EU database, can be downloaded via a QR code integrated into the label. It also includes information on snow grip and ice grip for tyres that meet these criteria.
The following tyres are exempt from the regulation:
- Tyres designed to be fitted only to vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990
- Remoulded tyres (until Regulation EU 2020/740 has been widened accordingly)
- Professional off-road tyres
- Racing tyres
- Tyres with additional devices to improve traction, e.g. studded tyres
- Temporary-use spare tyres (T-type tyres)
- Tyres with a speed rating below 80 km/h
- Tyres with a nominal rim diameter of 254 mm or less and 635 mm or more
